PABX Demarcation Testing
The AM8a can monitor or emulate the station
(line) side or the central office (trunk) side of a
PABX. The PABX can be emulated for the
purpose of testing the central office trunk
signalling, or the central office can be emulated
looking toward the PABX.
The AM8a has built-in central office battery
power supply, loop length emulation, ring generator
and dial tone generator. All of
which are variable, and programmable to
provide for a wide variety of test configurations.
These facilities, for example,
allow the unit to simulate DID or 911
terminal equipment.
Limit testing of all signalling parameters
is possible due to the full programmability
of the built-in generators and the
detailed signalling decode and analysis
capability of the built-in receivers.
Precise one millisecond time tagging of
all decoded signalling events allows easy
identification of signalling timing
problems.
At the PBX or at the central office, demarcation
testing is simple and comprehensive.
