The 501 Programmable Stereo Generator provides a time-multiplexed composite signal conforming to FCC standards for stereo broadcasting. This unit can be used for testing of high-quality multiplex stereo decoders or for providing the drive signal for FM Signal Generators. Provides excellent LR separation of better than 65 dB between 80 Hz and 5 kHz and handles all stereo modes including L&R, L=R, L=-R, L, and R. Distortion at 100% composite level is <0.02%. Pre-emphasis time constants conforming to American standard (75 ?s), European standard (50 ?s), and FM Dolby (25 ?s). Other features include settable pilot level in steps of 1% from 0 to 19%, modulation by internal and/or external sources, modulation level settable in steps of 1% from 0 to 99%, and outputs with fixed level for the modulation signal used in the two channels.
